The International Guitar Competition City of Lagoa - Zé Gregório, the only one south of the Tejo River - will take place every two years in the solo and chamber music with guitar variants. It is for the Municipality, a cultural manifestation of excellence, of great national and international level and a provider of stimulus and motivation to young people and professionals from our country and abroad. The objective reason for the International Guitar Competition City of Lagoa - Zé Gregório is to value young musicians and facilitate their integration into the artistic world; to promote young performers and their passion for the guitar; to disseminate the creations of great composers; to provide dialogue and the presentation of university works on music in general - and guitar music in particular - as well as the world musical heritage. In parallel to the competition, a "City of Lagoa Award" will be created for the best guitarist of the Algarve, with the aim of promoting and encouraging young musicians of our region to develop a taste for the instrument. Finally, the competition will end with a grand final of the professional level (level VI) where prizes will be awarded to the winners at the various age levels of the competition.
